We’re on Facebook!
But is that a good thing? That remains to be seen. We hope so. Our intent is not to be hip and relevant. Our intent is to make the gospel preaching and teaching of WFBC as accessible as possible to those who hunger to hear the word of Truth, the Bible, proclaimed and taught plainly and clearly. Visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wichitafallsbaptist. For those who frequent FB, it's a great way to keep track of what's new and newly uploaded off of this, our WFBC home web-page. As always, for the glory of God!
Respectable sins
Most Christians and most non-Christians for that matter have no difficulty identifying the major sins. The news spews forth day after day stories about major and horrifying sins that burble out of the darkness of man. We're a bit less comfortable coming to terms with the more "respectable sins,"* those sins that don't get a lot of pulpit time, the sins we might see in others but we surely wouldn't call such a "small" thing to their attention. These sins often go unchecked in our own lives for that reason and for our unwillingness to see them for what they are: ...
Out of the Exile
Open up your Bible to Ezra and Haggai, blow out the dust therein, and get ready to hear from Pastor Counterman how these amazing books about Israel's return from exile impact the church today in the summer of 2010. Follow the links below for some nourishment from the word of God: July 11: Out of the Exile July 18: Consider Your Ways July 25: Build This Temple Aug 8: Blessings of Obedience Aug 22: Trusting God Completely
A bit of encouragement
In a fallen world, our fallen bodies and fallen relationships can drain our leaky tanks. It is amazing that an omnipotent God understands this. In fact, God the Son learned first hand about living and walking in such an arena. At times when your battery has but a few bars left, God provides the needed power from his word. This past Sunday, Pastor Counterman delivered two messages, during Sunday school and from the pulpit that served to bolster believers with dying batteries. Listen here: Sunday school - "Handling Stress in a Broken World" Sermon - "Strength for the Struggling"
Listen to Sunday’s sermon
...the word of God still get's preached! What a blessing to have Pastor Josh Longoria and Mark DeBoe step into the pulpit to fill Pastor Counterman's shoes while he is doing his USAF Reserve duty at Vance Air Force Base. Both men provided WFBC with solid teaching from the pulpit on Sunday. Access the sermons through the links below. You can listen right away or download the sermon to listen later on. Pastor Longoria - "Let No Corrupting Talk..." Mark DeBoe - "Fighting a Spiritual Battle"
Living in a Broken World
In case you've been away for awhile, Pastor has been teaching on how we are to live in a broken world as Christians during our Adult Bible Study on Sunday mornings. Some times it's downright hard! God's word provides sound counsel to men and women in challenging circumstances. Visit our Sunday school link here to find the audio links for this series.
Truth Trackers Finale!
Wichita Falls Baptist Church completed another great year of Truth Tracker ministry. With huge investments by Liesl Counterman, Elaine Matamoros, Randy and Kalli York, Tyler Pond and assistants Kristin and Bethany Stevens and Austin Pond, the WFBC kids learned a lot about the deep things of God. On top of that, they experienced it in the joy of God's goodness. [caption id="attachment_723" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="The Truth Tracker Kids at the 2010 Awards Presentation"][/caption] We capped off the year with our awards presentation at the church where the kids received medals for faithful laboring on their daily devotions and scripture memorization. After that, ...
