A study of where we came from and why it matters in the 21st Century
Pose the following queries to folks outside the church and folks inside the church and you’ll get far different answers.
- Where did man come from?
- How long ago did man appear on the earth?
- Did God use evolution as part of his creative process?
- What about dinosaurs and the fossil record?
- Are religion and science as divided as church and state?
Or will you?
A plain reading of Genesis 1 through 3 will yield a far different answers to the questions above than you would receive in 99% of universities. In other words, to many people an enormous chasm exists between what is taught and proclaimed as science and what a plain reading of the Bible reveals.
This leaves the follower of Christ with must-answer questions like:
- Must I adapt the early pages of Genesis to suit the findings of science?
- How did God intend his creatures to read Genesis 1-3 and why?
- Are modern science and God’s word reconcilable?
And looming largest of all:
- What does any of this matter in America 2010?
If you guessed plenty, you would be exactly right (or why would be devoting an entire semester of Sunday school to this topic). The answers to all of these questions have HUGE implications for us today. Make it a point to get up early on Sunday mornings to be a part of this vital study in God’s word.
