Our Pastor

Pastor Lukus Counterman

I would like to extend a personal invitation to visit Wichita Falls Baptist Church.

Pastor Lukus Counterman and his wife, Liesl

The first time I visited the church, I knew I was in a very special place. I’m confident that you will have the same experience. The congregation of WFBC is dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ. Our desire is to know Him, live for Him, and serve Him with our lives. Every service is designed to encourage you to grow in your relationship with Christ. The pressures, decisions, and difficulties of life in this world can be met successfully by the properly equipped believer. Our purpose is to provide a church home in which you can grow in the knowledge and likeness of our Lord.

You are welcome at Wichita Falls Baptist Church!

The Pastor’s Biography

Pastor Lukus had the privilege of growing up in a pastor’s home. His early training was absolutely directional in the course his life would eventually take. As a teen, Lukus desired to pursue a career in medicine. He earned his BA in Biological Science from the University of Maryland. His godly parents had one requirement for his life: one year at a Bible college. He was accepted into Dental school when he went to Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI to fulfill his parents’ desire. While there, he met great friends and decided to counsel with them at Northland Camp and Conference Center for the summer.

While encouraging young people to pursue God’s will for their lives, he was smitten with his own need to do the same. In the ensuing months, God pulled his heart closer and closer to Himself. Lukus submitted to the clear leading of the Lord and prepared to enter seminary. While at Northland, he met his wife Liesl. After Lukus finished his MA in counseling and a year of teaching high school, they married and moved to Maryland where Lukus would serve for four years under the leadership of his dad (Andy Counterman) at Anchor Baptist Church. During those years, he finished his Master of Divinity from Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary in Lansdale, PA.

The Lord called Lukus to WFBC (then known as Messiah Baptist Church) in August 2004. Lukus and Liesl have three children, Elijah, Eden, and Cana Grace. Pastor Counterman is committed to passionate expository preaching and gives himself to the ministry of the Word as the pastor-teacher at WFBC. His burdens for evangelism, discipleship are evident in the life of the church.
